Originally from Charleston, IL, Dr. Katie Spoo attended Eastern Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences in 2004. She was awarded her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2009 from the University of Illinois and worked as a primary care veterinarian in Illinois, Texas, and Maine for 14 years before making the transition to emergency medicine in 2023.
Dr. Spoo is a self-proclaimed Anglophile and crazy cat lady, and she and her partner enjoy a number of hobbies in her spare time including traveling, geocaching, hiking with her whippet step-dog, building LEGO, and caring for her reptilian menagerie. She also recently picked up ice hockey, which has become an obsession she shares with her partner, and is a founding board member of Maine Chill Women’s Ice Hockey.
