Dr. Kelly Hicks is originally from Texas and a recent newcomer to New England. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She completed her clinical training year at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Hicks then completed a three-year residency at Oregon State University (OSU) and attained board certification in veterinary medical oncology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 2024.
Dr. Hicks’ professional interests include cancer biology, genetic testing and its relation to emerging targeted cancer therapies, and palliative cancer care. She is passionate about helping owners understand their pet’s cancer diagnosis and works closely with families to develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans that prioritize each patient’s quality of life.
Outside of work, Dr. Hicks enjoys spending time outdoors and looks forward to exploring Maine and everything the state has to offer.
