Gail Mason, DVM, MA, DACVIM, Oncology, Internal Medicine

Dr. Gail Mason is Chief Medical Officer of Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC). After earning her biosciences degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, she received a Master of Arts degree in medical pharmacology from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She holds a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University where she also completed a residency program. Dr. Mason is a Board-Certified small animal internal medicine specialist. Her professional areas of interest include diagnosis and treatment of cancer, gastroenterology, and immune-mediated and infectious disease. She also founded and directs Maine’s only radioactive therapy program for cats with hyperthyroidism.

In her spare time, Dr. Gail Mason participates in clinical research including new product medication trials, and testifies as a malpractice expert in veterinary cases. She is also an avid equine enthusiast and enjoys being in the show arena whenever she can.
