A referral from your pet’s regular veterinarian can ensure that we have a full medical history and relevant diagnostics. This often supports a faster and more accurate diagnosis. However, referral is not definitively required.

Your first visit typically includes a detailed medical history, physical examination, lab work, and imaging if indicated. It’s aimed at pinpointing the cause of symptoms. Same day procedures requiring anesthesia can sometimes, but not always, be accommodated.

This depends on the condition. Some issues can be identified and/or stabilized quickly. Others, especially vague, chronic, or multi-organ diseases, may take longer to identify and treat. Many conditions treated by veterinary internists are managed and not cured. Frequent adjustments and follow up may be needed in some cases.
