Primary care veterinarians will receive results the same day as the outpatient abdominal ultrasound appointment, allowing for seamless continuation of care at your facility. Please keep in mind that this service is intended for stable patients and for a vet-to-vet consultation only. We will not communicate directly with the client. If you have a more emergent case or feel that a patient may benefit from continued care at PVESC, please call and speak with one of our doctors. This referral form and pertinent medical records are required for all outpatient ultrasound appointments. If a critical finding is noted sonographically (hemoabdomen, for example), then the patient may be referred to the PVESC Emergency Service for urgent evaluation. If the owner declines such emergent evaluation, then they can contact their primary care veterinarian for additional follow up. Any pets requiring sedation will require an official internal medicine consultation.
