Kelvin Kow, DVM, DACVIM, Oncology
A native of the Seacoast, New Hampshire, Dr. Kelvin Kow obtained his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Tulane University in 1997. Before pursuing veterinary medicine, he worked as a research scientist and later earned his veterinary degree from Louisiana State University. Dr. Kow completed a rotating internship at Colorado State University (CSU) and subsequently a medical oncology residency and fellowship at CSU’s Flint Animal Cancer Center (FACC), achieving board certification in Medical Oncology from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 2007.
Dr. Kow has an extensive academic and clinical background, serving as the Founding Oncologist at Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and at Fitzpatrick Referrals in the United Kingdom. His academic career includes faculty positions at Oregon State University and the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, where he held leadership roles such as Oncology Service Chief and ACVIM residency program director. In these capacities, he has mentored numerous veterinary students, interns, residents, and fellows.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kow has contributed to the field through significant book chapters, including those on chemotherapy and cancer biology in Veterinary Surgery (Tobias KM, Johnston SA, Saunders, 2011 and 2017) and Therapeutic Strategies in Veterinary Oncology (Khanna, C., 2023). His research includes numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences. He has also served on the ACVIM examination committee and as an at-large member of the Veterinary Cancer Society.
