April Guille, DVM, DACVS-SA, Surgery
Dr. April Guille is a board-certified veterinary surgeon. She decided to become a veterinarian because it was the perfect blend of two of her strong interests — medicine and animal welfare. Dr. Guille obtained her bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado in Boulder and received her doctorate of veterinary medicine from The Ohio State University. Following graduation from veterinary school, she completed a rotating internship at Oradell Animal Hospital, a busy general and referral practice outside New York City.
Dr. Guille then spent a year at the University of Florida Veterinary Teaching Hospital as an Emergency Triage Clinician. While there, she published her first research paper in Veterinary Surgery. Dr. Guille completed her surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center before completing her three-year surgical residency at the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in Philadelphia. She joined the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2008 and returned to New England to raise her family.
While Dr. Guille loves surgery of all types, her main interests include oncology surgery, wound management, and emergency surgical conditions. She loves helping both the patients and their owners through the entire process and improving her patient’s quality of life through surgery.
Originally from New Hampshire, Dr. Guile loves living on the seacoast with her husband, three children, and three cats. In their free time, they like to camp, hike, ski, and travel. Dr. Guille and her family are also fluent in German. They travel as often as they can to Germany to visit family and friends.
Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care is very grateful to have Dr. April Guille on our surgery team.
