Firstly, emergency surgical intervention is sometimes required to save a pet’s life or to ensure the best outcome. Emergency surgery never happens at a convenient time. Therefore our board-certified surgeons are ready to give your pet the best care available any time of day. At Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care we handle all sorts of emergency surgeries, most commonly:

• Gastric dilatation volvulus (bloat)
• Intestinal obstruction (GI foreign body)
• Cesarean section (C-section)
• Chest trauma or thoracic disease requiring a chest tube placement
• Lacerations or wounds that need stitches

After your pet’s surgery, follow all special instructions for after-care. This is vital in ensuring the best possible outcome for your pet after emergency surgery.
